Strong Second Half Pushes Patriots by Hill School

FORT WASHINGTON — A strong defensive effort in the second half coupled with consistent scoring led the Patriots to a 6-3 home victory against Hill School on Jordan Field on Wednesday afternooon.

Germantown Academy got the scoring started four minutes into the game after Colleen Carrigan ’18 scored off of an assist from Sammy Popper ’19. Three minutes later, it would be Carrigan assisting Popper for the game’s second goal.

After three consecutive goals from Hill School, Grace Pacitti  ’20 would find the back of the goal just a minute before the halftime break.

In the second stanza, the Patriot defense clamped down on Hill School’s offense, not allowing them to score a goal.

With the offense sputtering, Hill School needed an impressive defensive stand of their own. However, the GA offense had other things in mind.

Popper would score two unassisted goals, one on a stroke, to bring her game total to three. Maddi Ota ’20 would score late on an assist from Pacitti to make the final score 6-3.

The win puts the Patriots at 11-5 overall (5-4 in Inter-Ac play) on the year. They hold the No. 3 seed in the PAISAA tournament.

GA Scoring Summary:

Sammy Popper – 3 goals, 1 assist

Colleen Carrigan – 1 goal, 1 assist

Grace Pacitti – 1 goal, 1 assist

Maddi Ota – 1 goal
