Eight Players Score in Loss to Father Judge

FORT WASHINGTON — Germantown Academy is battling through injuries, inexperience and shooting troubles early in the 2017 season. While some of the players that have missed time are coming back, the Patriots dropped their latest contest on Dec. 19 to visiting Father Judge High School, 64-39.

The Patriots found themselves in a hole after the first quarter, getting outscored by the Crusaders, 19-6. In the second quarter, the offense trended upwards, scoring nine points. However, Germantown Academy still trailing 29-15 at halftime.

The offense continued to warm up as the game went on. The Patriots topped their first half point total, managing to score 24 second-half points. However, they could not get the necessary stops defensively. Father Judge’s Shane Dooley finished with a game-high 22 points.

Guard Jordan Longino ’21 led Germantown Academy with nine points while forward Diego Carrasco ’19 was second with eight. Eight players combined to make 13 field goals during the contest.

While shots from the field were not falling, GA was able to improve their free-throw percentage. After converting 56 percent from the charity stripe against West Catholic High School three days earlier, the Patriots knocked down 12 of 16 free throws against Father Judge.

Germantown Academy is now 3-5 overall and will host Cardinal O’Hara High School on Dec. 23 at 2:30 p.m.
