PHILADELPHIA — The Germantown Academy girl’s basketball team defeated William Penn Charter, 61-54 for their sixth straight win on Friday night. The win gives GA the regular-season sweep of Penn Charter, as they beat the Quakers, 55-31 earlier this season.
Guard Jaye Haynes ’20 led the way for the Patriots with 16 points. She made seven shots from the field and added two three pointers. Haynes also added five rebounds for the game. Fellow guard Catherine Polisano ’18 posted a season-high 15 points and sunk three three pointers.
While Haynes and Polisano did most of the scoring, Alexa Naessens ’18 and Elle Stauffer ’20 handled things on the glass. Each player had nine rebounds while Naessens had six points and Stauffer had nine.
The Patriots started off strong, outscoring Penn Charter 43-22 in the first half. In the second half it was PC doing a majority of the scoring. Penn Charter held GA to just 18 points in the second half while scoring 32 of their own. However, the first half lead was too much to overcome as the Patriots emerged victorious.
The win marked the 18th of the year for Germantown Academy and moved them to 6-0 in the InterAc. They will travel to Episcopal Academy on Jan. 30 for a 4:00 p.m. matchup.
