Five Patriots Claim Top-10 Finishes at Ursinus College High School Open

COLLEGEVILLE — The Germantown Academy indoor track team started off their season at the Ursinus College High School Open on Dec. 9. A total of five Patriots put forth top-10 finishes in seven different events.

Kelsey O’Hara ’18 took seventh in the girls 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.23. Gianna Murgia ’20 (2:44.68) and Maddie O’Hara (2:54.74) finished 40th and 64th respectively. There were 107 athletes competing in the event.

In the pole vault, Quartnei Brown ’21 finished seventh with a height of 8’6″. Meanwhile, Meaghan Toscano ’20 placed third in the shot put, throwing a distance of 37-11. Myah Taylor ’20 finished 40th in the event.

Germantown Academy’s 4×200 meter relay team took 11th with a time of 1:59.63. Gabriela Manosis ’20 placed 20th out of 80 athletes, running a 6:05.68 in the mile.

The Patriots placed two athletes in the top half of the girls 200 meter dash. Lyric Harris-Peoples ’21 placed 45th with a time of 29.56, while Destiny Mayfield ’20 took 57th with a time of 30.32. In the 400 meter dash, Perry Irons ’21 finished 25th out of 98 participants by running 1:06.39.

On the boys side, GA had four athletes place in the 400 meter dash. Kyle Garland ’18 took first place with a time of 50.76. Caleb Johnson ’19 (56.47), Daelyn Nwaobasi ’21 (59.47) and Stefan Kusmirek ’18 (1:00.62) placed 29th, 56th and 68th respectively.

Garland also took first place in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.35 and first in the shot put, throwing 52-8.25. Olatide Abinusawa ’19 finished second in the shot put with a throw of 47-11.5.

The Patriots also finished the 4×200 meter relay in 25th place with a time of 1:46.59.

Germantown Academy finished 17th out of 36 teams on the girls side, while the boys finished third out of 38 teams.

The Patriots will return to Ursinus on Dec. 13 for the Hill School Invitational.
